I've enjoyed participating in the many discussions on the Medium Forum -- as an elder with a college education, I feel that I can communicate effectively on Medium, and I've had many opportunities to do so. But I feel somewhat daunted by the prospect of submitting original works for review on The Startup (and possible acceptance). I've never written for publication during my life--but I read a great many things, and I think about a great many issues.

I don't know if I could produce a piece that would measure up to your expectations. I think the reason I am so hesitant is that I have never attempted to submit stories (much less a novel) for publication anywhere, except in the Medium Forum, where my academic credentials and my published works have not been an upfront requirement.

Submitting something I write to The Startup, I'm certain, is very much a form of "application for employment". I have not held a "job" since I was 65. (And regardless of my M.A. in Education from the University of Connecticut at Storrs, and my B.S. in Business--Human Resource Mgmt, and my A.A. in Journalism (Public Relations) - I question my qualifications to serve as a candidate in this authorial consortium.

Will you be discontinuing the Medium Forum as you move forward with the launch of The Startup? If so, I may disappear from your author's group. I will miss my interactive participation in the Medium Forum, in that case.
