Jeez Louise, Mr. Meyer, your assessment of the dreadful plight our declining democratic union is in is eye-opening, but it is also terrifying, and a black vision. There's no hopeful new horizon in this lamentation of the intrepid. Frankly, a good alternative title for your piece would be, "It's the End of the World As We Know It--and I don't feel fine!"
I can't disagree with your assessment of the situation, but I want to--badly. I'm fearful of hoping for the overthrow of the Trump Regime in November because I don't want to be totally devastated if we fail to make that step forward, but we NEED to oust Donald Trump, because Yes, He IS a mentally disabled, fulminating narcissistic sociopath and a malignant authoritarian - he lies all the time because he has no idea how to lead our nation, or perhaps he just doesn't give a damn. And we need to clean out his cronies in the Senate as well. The last thing this country needs to survive as a democracy is four more years of despotic mismanagement by the Republican Party!
Who was it who said, in one of our more ominous paranormal horror stories, "Be afraid, be very afraid!" Ugh!
