Thank you for this most enlightening exposition on what it means to be indoctrinated in an evangelical or fundamentalist Christian life. I have never been close friends with anyone who was a member of such a household, but I have been very fortunate in that regard. I never could have tolerated spending time in such a family setting! Catholicism can be quite stringent if the practitioner is obsessive and excessively debout--but most Catholics are not so repressed by their religious parents or spouses. Thank heavens!
